"Do you think passion is needed to be successful"? this is wat my out going boss put out to us during our "last" dept meeting. His view is that if u are passionate about something u would always try to see if u could improve on the norm rather than just following "procedures" written donkey years ago.
I was wondering if it's possible to be good in something which u have no passion in?
Like for instance, u could sacrifice a few nights of sleep to improve on a certain program. (it's already working). the nights is not for just handing in the work u are suppose to do but rather improvements which may or may not get u better grades... it's just that u feel u shld do it.
Me? mabbe i m passionate, i always try to do my best in everything i do...
call that passionate abt life? mabbe...

Once in a while or consistency?
I've always been wondering which is better?
1) Show kindness Once in a blue moon and in very "dramatic" way.
2) Constantly show little kindness
Seems that most ppl prefer 1) cos mainly 2 doesn't get notice easily. After a while these seem to be a "matter of fact" u shld do it. Nothing much. Whereas for 1) it will seem to be special and ppl will remember it.
I'm trying to be good to everyone always but of cos I will be especially good to person(s) i like. If it's the special someone, then she will always be in my mind when i make decisions. I always think that if u love someone, it's not just abt possessing, it's also to let her have the best, even with some "suffering" on my part, as long as i feel it's worth it...
However these things are always implicit, they are not easily seen and appreciated. For once, slow and steady may not win the race...

Travels
During travels, many would want to visit as many places as possible. They are often obsessed in getting to the next destination as soon as possible. They have do not leave much time to stop at each place to savour the sights, the smell and sounds of the place. They do not know wat's special abt the place compared with the rest.
When the whole journey ended, all that is in their mem is "oh i've been here on this day" The whole scene of tat place is not etched into their memories.
After many long years, even when they wan to revisit the place, everything have changed, the smell, the sights everything even the feelings will be different. Things will never be the same.
So next time in all journeys, stop a while to and remember all the pit stops u've been cos once u passed the village, u can never find it again.

Drama on the Bus
Was taking the bus to work when i heard a dramatic shouting (mabbe got physical, too many ppl i can't see) match on the bus.
Appearantly this Singaporean was not happy with thie foreigner over something (i dunno). One of the lines i heard was "I am a Singaporean, u dun f**** mess with me"
And as usual Singaporeans, no 1 bothered to stop the fight.
I wonder if we Singaporeans have that bit of superiority complex over other nationalities? Do we feel we are superior? inside me i was thinking, "so wat if u are singaporean?"
A long time bk, the Chinese ppl tot they were superior and while the rest of the world moved ahead, they remained in their own "superior" world and as a result they got left behind.... Do we wan to repeat tat? Ok we do have some acheivements, but i think we shouldn't be arrogant
Truely great ppl are those who are humble, down to earth and willing to see the needs of others like Ghandi, Mother theresa, Mao Ze Dong...
Mabbe it's time we look at ourselves and be more humble...

Singapore Bayrun and "graciousness"
Rained the whole of Saturday... luckily it din rained on Sunday Morning which is the date of the Singapore Bay Run 08
But the rain did turned the Padang into "Mudang". and to think i even wore my new SAF shoes. Ah well, SAF shoes heck care haha...
Heard the PM wanted Singapore to be more gracious when we host the 2010 Youth Olympics... i think hard la, the news mentioned an very good example, before the people exit frm MRT, people already rushed in. Well sometimes can't blame them, if they dun squeeze, they might not get in and will be late for work... the next not so crowded train might be 3-4 trains later...Ah singaporeans have a heck of "calculating" everything to the finest details... like wat time they need to leave home so that they will be just on time for work... haha..
Well the run today also like tat... Got alot of walkers who just stand abreast of each other and blocked the runners(and in the center of the lane somemore, they are everywhere. Guys, Gals ). As a result many runners have to do alot of "direction change" so that they wun run into any of these grps...Is this a gracious behavior? I hav nothing against walkers, if they are tired, walk it's normal. but if u are walking i think it's basic courtesy to move to the side of the road so that others who wan to run can run. Isn't it better? it's not a catwalk...
Instead of this formation

Why not this? (at least u wun block ppl who wan to run)

Next race (standchart) i will take my camera and capture these "models" hehe

Tots & Loot from Bukit Batok
Cycled 18km today for a swim at Bukit Batok today (Teck Whye->CCK->Bukit Batok->Teck Whye. Why?-CCK Swimming complex is closed every Monday, Drats)
when exiting the pool, met a Singh who suddenly came to me and showed me a card saying that he is a "kashmir Yoga Master". Oh tot he gg to sell "koyo" so i quickly say "i am not interested and gesturing "nono". to my surprise he just told me one thing.. "You Look good and you are going to be in luck in september"... wat a surprise, though i know 99% that it's not gg to come thru' but still felt abit happy. Guess people always like to hear wat they like to hear... haha
Decided to visit Botak Jones for takeaway lunch... Bad choice, next time cycle please be fore warn not to carry food. bought some durian egg tarts (mum says nice) frm mayim and dessert (teabreak) from EMI.
The aftermath...
Smashed durian egg tarts ( not very nice)
Cajun Chix from Botak Jones ( not much damage... )

Desserts...
THis is a durian crepe (lazy to open)

D24 Durian Expresso ( not very nice)

Mango Pudding ( not very nice)

Supporting a Club
Happen to saw this article abt the new EPL (English Premier League) starting. One of the supporters of a mid-table club said this.
"(supporting a club) is like picking a wife, once u have made ur choice, u are stuck with it"
Well i also think tat why, when u support a club, u should stick to it thru' thick and thin, through good and bad times regardless of whether they win trophies or relegated.
I was thinking how many supporters actually felt this way, or why do they support a certain club. Most people would support the "big-4" clubs (rich, can buy the best players frm the smaller clubs, in fact they are thugs!) Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool.
In my view, these big 4 clubs destroyed the game, destroyed the competition. Every season u only see the 4 of them changing places at the top. they poached all the good players from the lower clubs, How can the lower clubs over take them? where is the competition?
I wonder if most supporters of the big 4 clubs actually support them cos they win trophies so that they can boast to their friends who supported another club "Hey my team beat urs last weekend". If this is the case then i think it's rather sad, if their club had a change of fortune, (no $$, gets relegated, becomes medicore) will they jump ship? these ppl have no loyalty.(some ppl might not agree of cos). Where-ever the wind blows, they sway to the other side. Some better clubs (with better results) come along and they change their allegiance.
For me I have always supported Blackburn Rovers. Why? cos of their tenacity, fighting spirit and perseverance. From a small town club, they actually dare to challenge the likes of the Big 4 and they even won the title once. perhaps from this team, it tot me that nothing is impossible or "impossible is nothing (adidas slogan)"
Now even though their fortunes are not as good and the benefactor had died (no more $$) but their spirit remains and i still supported them as i had been for the last 13yrs...
From many seemingly minor things, we can actually learn lessons, lessons that would be beneficial to us whether in life or help us improve as a person.
I will remain a Blackburn Rovers supporter forever...

Feeling Good...SHIOK!!!
Felt so good today... by my standards, never ran so long already... conquered Mr laziness today, the temperature was cool nice weather for a run too bad i still having a mild cough, doc say it's sinus infection but i still felt good...

This is the longer route i took today...for runners, this is a good site to calculate ur running distance after street directory was shut down.
http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/
took an hour plus for me to complete the route, just a slow run...
somehow i feel running is good....
1) it's FREE (no need for any membership fee)
2) no need too much equipment
3) u can run anytime, anywhere (even if rain)
4) train ur endurance and perseverance
5) allows u to explore ur surrounding area ( i am the "territory snake" of bukit batok, Choa Chu Kang, Bt Panjang and some say Yew Tee now haha)
6)Clears ur mind, some how i feel fresh when the i move against the wind...the shiok feeling just like when u let the sea breeze blow into u, (i can really think deeply when i am running)
7)can sweat and keep fit (so that i can eat more haha)
The only bad thing is that it's quite harmful to my joints, the impact quite heavy...
